I went to a visitation tonight for a childhood friend, also 36. I intended to go to the funeral tomorrow also, but I'm not sure I'll make it. The visitation was enough for my emotions. My past has given me a sort of experience in this whole dying thing that puts a whole other spin on grief.
Phillip and Denise were here for a few days. They came to see Rachel play basketball, and then stayed. Rachel is #24, not by coincidence, but because she asked for that number since she knew it was one of Brian's favorite numbers. It was great to have Phillip and Denise here. I had gotten so used to seeing them all the time, so it has been a big adjustment for me and the kids not to have them around as much. We do keep in touch a lot by phone. Phillip did some things around the house for me, fixed a few things, and hung several things for the girls, plus Denise helped Amberlea get her room in better order. It is nice to have those things done. We had a nice visit and the kids enjoyed them also.
We are looking forward to a nice day off tomorrow. Hopefully this week will be warmer. The bitter cold makes me feel crabby.
