We are laying in bed, trying to get to sleep. Tye is sleeping with me, yet again...
Tye: Tell me a story Mom.
Me: About what?
Tell me about Daddy.
Once upon a time there was a little boy named Brian. He liked to run and play...
He couldn't run, Mom, remember, he couldn't walk?
Yeah, but he used to be able to walk when he was younger.
NO MOM! He's not a little boy, remember, he's in Heaven now.
Anyway, one day he went fishing with his brother Todd.
And what about me? Did I go?
Well, I guess you can go in this story.
No Mom! Didn't I go with Daddy when he was a little boy?
No, you weren't born yet.
Oh yeah, r..i..g..h..t...
So Brian and Todd went with Papa to go fishing.
Did Trace go?
No, Trace didn't go.
Because he wasn't born yet, right?
Right.
So Daddy and Todd went with their Papa?
Well, no I meant they went with your Papa Phillip.
But why didn't I go?
I was just making up the story about when Daddy and Todd went fishing with their dad when they were younger.
Who is their dad?
Papa is their dad, remember, like your other Papa is my dad.
Oh, yeah, r...i...g...h...t. And your mom is dead.
Yes...my mom is in Heaven with your dad.
Who's dad, my dad?
Yes your dad and my mom.
Let's just get back to the story.
Why don't you tell the story?
Ok. Just tell me this. Does my dad just hop around on the clouds?
Uh, yeah, I guess so.
HOLY MOLY! HE COULD BREAK HIS NECK!
(Giggle, giggle)...I'm laughing too hard to respond.
Am I right? He could break his neck.
Well, that is what's really cool about Heaven, you can do things like that and you won't ever fall and get hurt.
Wow! I never knew that before. No one ever told me that. Why didn't you tell me that?
I guess I didn't know that was something you wanted to know.
Ok, well I'm tired now so let's go to sleep.

What a wonderful thought - In heaven mothers will never again have to say things like, "don't run with scissors you'll poke your eye out," or "no jumping off the coffee table you might crack your head open,"...I love a child's perspective on the world...and what comes after!

YOU NEED TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT THESE CONVERSATIONS!!!!! I was in Brian's room at MMS today. It bothered me more than I though it would. However, I was so warmed by all of the pictures around the building of Brian doing crazy things! His spirit truly lives on!
Love,
Jill
