Resting After a Long Day

What a day! I would give the overall day a fairly high rating, considering the movement out of the house, the ride to St. Joe, getting out of the car and into the hospital, and getting back in the car, heading home and getting back in the house...all were fairly uneventful! The surgery went well, and Brian is a little sore, but otherwise doing well. His biggest complaint is the pain in his rear, as the bed sore on his tailbone area is becoming extremely painful. We continue to try to work on this, but it is so hard to find a comfy position for him without causing hip pain. Thank you for your extra prayers yesterday, as things went well. We were very well taken care of at Heartland and appreciated the kindness shown to us by each person we dealt with. I got to visit with Agnes, my mom's friend that works there, as we bumped into each other in the cafeteria and had lunch together. It was great to visit with her, and passed the time for me during Brian's surgery.

We got home in time to give Rachel her birthday gifts, then she and I headed out to dinner. I can't believe she is 11! Brian sent her flowers yesterday at school, and she was so excited. It was a special gift from him and a special time for the two of them. Poor Amberlea, continues to wait and questions why I couldn't have had her first so she didn't have to wait so long for her birthday!

Tye saw someone fishing on t.v. last night. He announced...my dad and I are going to do that, we are going fishing. It was quite overwhelming for Brian, obviously. It is moments like this that hurt the most.

The forecasters are right so far. Wunderground says there is a 90% chance of snow today, starting around 9am, and sure enough, the snow has begun to fall. I better get some things done incase it cuts loose today and school lets out early! Either way, I need to get some things done in anticipation of having kids home tomorrow!

Be careful out there...

Couldn't help but laugh at Amberlea's frustration: Our eldest was born with the latest birthday of the three, and I swear he was 10 before he could understand the cyclical nature of time.

So glad to hear Brian's surgery went well. Thanks for taking the time to update.

I was an old college buddy of Halley's. I just found out today about his fight. I am floored. I have not seen or heard from him since 2000 when I graduated, but I still remember him. He was always a kind, considerate and upbeat guy. He, you and your family will be in my prayers.

Jenni, I had a dream about you and Brian last night! You were being your typical upbeat self, joking around, and Brian looked like a very healthy Brian, also joking around.

Maybe it was my subconcious getting to me and telling me to touch base with you...I feel like I've been the worst friend in the world because I haven't even talked to you for so long. I often think to call you late at night usually about the time Leno comes onto the TV! I doubt you'd appreciate that too much :)

You are pulled in so many directions that I know your time is very precious...the kids and Brian need you. I just want you to know that you are always on my mind. To be honest, there's not a day that goes by when I don't think of and pray for Brian, you and the kids. God has given you so much strength, hope and courage, and you are an inspiration to us all.

I try to read the blog often to stay up-to-speed. So many people that I work with here ask about Brian and also pray for him. Continue to cherish the moments you have, and know that you are in my heart and mind.

Hugs,

Jen Smith
