The Many Adventures of Tye

I could write a pretty long entry tonight, just on Tye's most recent adventures. I'll just choose the ones leading up to later this evening.

So the other day I was sorting some laundry in my bathroom and he came running in. The next thing I knew, he was dropping his drawers. I said...Tye! He said...I have to go to the bathroom. I said...I'll step out then! (we've been working on this with him)

I went to the bedroom and then hollered when I thought enough time had passed that he should be out (he can reak havoc in a short time). He announced that he was going poop, so I headed out to the living room to pick up a few things. I got to talking to Amberlea, and next thing I knew, I realized it had been several minutes (again, Tye and the bathroom have been known to be a bad combination, especially my bathroom, where there is lots to get into). I hollered again.

He comes to the door of my bedroom in only a t-shirt and socks, no pants and no undies. He had a discouraging look on his face. I said...what is wrong? He looked back at me, and I was expecting and Ace Ventura response of DO NOT go in there! Instead he said...the water in the toilet is getting really big. I jumped up and raced in, and the water was up to the brim. H was saying sorry and I glanced at the toilet paper. It didn't look much different than when I had used the restroom earlier, so I didn't know for sure what was causing it, other than a man in the bathroom (no offense). I ran to grab the plunger and he begged me to let him do the plunging. I was mostly ignoring him and saying no, and then just as I got back to the bathroom, he raced in and flushed the toilet. Needless to say, it overflowed at that point and made a huge mess.

Then the next day, he announced that he had flushed a plastic dixie cup down the toilet in the other bathroom. He definitely flushed something because it has gone glug glug for a few days. I kept the plunger close by and warned the girls. I've had to plunge it a few times, but I think it will be ok.

So tonight I thought I would sit on the deck, here at 10pm. It is such a nice night, and the quiet makes me feel close to Brian. I couldn't help but giggle. Tye fidgeted and fretted about the light being off, and I wouldn't let him turn the deck light on because of the bugs. Even so, a few bugs were buzzing around the screen, so he decided not to come out. He flicked a few junebugs off the screen and then found a small bug crawling on the floor by the door (it got in from Tye opening the screen so many times). So much for quiet. He complained and finally tried to stomp on it.

Then he went and got the plunger. I couldn't contain myself. He came out onto the deck and plunged several junebugs, and I just had to laugh that my quiet time with Brian turned into plunge mania.

It is going to prove to be a busy summer, keeping up with an active 4 year old on top of the girls being so busy!

Jenni,

This reminds me of a favorite story of a good friend of mine who gave her toddler a toilet brush for Christmas because that was his absolute favorite thing to do at the time!

Thats funny. Iknow you hurt but at the same time some of the stuff you write about Tye reminds me of things Brian would have done. He was always quick with a zinger or a wise crack. He could come up with some of the funniest nicknames for people. If you talk to Todd B any you should ask him to tell you the pork and bean camping story. He may not as it puts him in a bad light ha ha but Brian was there for that and it would give you one huge laugh I guarantee told correctly. As always you are in my prayers.
