Resting and Comfortable

Yesterday brought some relief for Brian's pain, but still not to the level he was hoping. The nurse came to check on him, and called the doctor to adjust his pain medication, which he nearly doubled. This was expected, as the oral pain meds were out of his body by then. He was still pretty uncomfortable, but again, better than Friday. We enjoyed an ice cream cake for Brian's dad's birthday.

His throat and mouth also hurt. I have diagnosed him with thrush. It looks just the same, and he is has had it twice since October. He is on a high enough dose of steroids that often cause thrush. We are using throat lozenges, and the nurse is calling for a script to get it cleared up...it always has helped quickly in the past.

The nurse made Brian's day yesterday when she called back to tell him when and what channel the football game was on. He felt pretty pampered. When he answered, he just started telling her how he was feeling a little better, and about his mouth. She said she wanted to know how he was feeling, but that she had really called to help him out with the football game (they had discussed when she was at our house). He thought that was nice that she was calling about something that didn't have to do with him being sick.

So today has been full of resting and being comfy, and football, of course. Hopefully, we can continue on this road of getting him to feel better. Brian's parents went on home, and will return this weekend, hopefully for family pictures.

Enjoy your day,
Jenni
