Good Blood, Bad Blood

Prior to the transfusion last night, Brian was running a fever. They ran blood cultures and did a CBC. Brian is a little bit perkier than yesterday, but not a drastic change. He has not had a fever all day, and I haven't given him anything for it either. The doctor here called this afternoon to let us know that there is something growing in his blood, some type of organism. Perfect. Not surprising really. I thought something was wrong. She thought it would require antibiotics immediately, and asked for Dr. Anderson's contact info because she wanted to turn the info over to him to deal with how he felt best. He reviewed the lab results, and since it is only one culture that was a problem, and the fact that Brian is holding his own, decided to wait to see us until the morning as planned, with directions that I take him to the E.R. if I see any changes. Stress, and more stress. He's on the phone chatting with his brother about the football game on t.v., so things are ok. We're hoping for a quiet trip to Columbia tomorrow, then a restful weekend.

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday. I ask you to continue to pray for us, but I also ask today that you say a prayer of thanksgiving for those you love.

Jenni
