Monday Monday

A few other states joined us today...Connecticut, Colorado, and Oregon. I've only been keeping track for a few days and have 33 states covered. I figure you all think I'm crazy for keeping track, but it is a nice distraction! I only have 5 countries, which means about 188 left...ha!

I chose today not to return to school for the rest of the week. Brian is just so sleepy and needing extra care, and he just wants me home with him. I am torn because I want to be at school. I miss the people I work with, and I miss my students. I really miss seeing my own children during the day. But those things are well taken care of in my absence, and I just need to be home. I canceled Brian's physcial therapy appts. for this week, as he is just not in any shape for that. I am hoping to keep his strength up to be able to go to Chicago. The doctor told me he would sleep like crazy for several days once the pain was controlled, and he wasn't kidding. He is also running a fever, which is a side effect of the infusion.

My dad came over tonight to stay with the kids and get them to bed so that I could go with Karis, Erin, and Jacob out for dinner for Karis's birthday (Wed.)...thanks Dad! It was very refreshing to get out of the house. We had certain rules about things we couldn't discuss, including money and cancer, which made for a nice conversation! I am working to keep Brian's care from consuming me, but it is really all I want to do right now because I love him, so I'm obviously completely wrapped up in that. It is difficult to see the man I fell in love with be run down so much. I hope he will be up for this weekend, at least to see a few dodge ball games. We're just going to play it by ear, maybe try to get him to Rachel's game (her class team, plus cousin Joe, is the Dodge Ball Ducks, sponsored by Greg Meyer Fencing).

Your continued prayers mean so much to us. Please pray for our children, as we know this greatly affects them. It is hard for them to see Brian like this. He has tried to get in some special time with each child over the last several days, and that helps. His energy is just zapped, so they mostly see him sleeping. I am also giving him some nutritional supplement drinks to help keep his energy up, and I hope that helps. His appetite hasn't been so great with being so sleepy.

It is not for us to know, but to trust the One who does...

Brian and Jenni,
Hope things are getting better today. I thought I would share my favorite Bible verse. During personal Bible study I came across this verse just before I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Then I thought maybe others would share their favorite.
"Be joyful always, pray continually,
give thanks in all circumstances."
1THESSALONIANS 5:16-18
LOVE YOU, Denise

Brian and Jenni,
just going to let you know every time that I check the blog, so that you will know who all has been on here. Maybe others will do the same so you can get an idea of who everyone is.

Dear Jenni and Brian,
Just a note to let you know I am still reading and still praying for you all. You are doing so good, Jenni, and are such a wonderful wife and caregiver!! I hope that this note encourages you to stay strong. I do not regret one day that I was able to be with Amy. I am glad that you can be by Brian's side all you can. With love and prayers,
Anita Martin

Hi guys,
We just wanted to send a quick note to tell you we were thinking about you and hope everything is going good today. Good luck on your trip to Chicago. I am glad that Todd is going with you. He will be a big help. Ashlyn really wants to come to the Dodge Ball Tournament Sunday but I don't think we will make it. As always our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Jenni and Brian,
I like Denise's idea about sharing a bible verse, especially since you chose one that was special for the two of you to put on the back of our Dodgeball t-shirts. My favorite, as Jenni may know, is "For he knows the number of the stars and calls them each by name." I love that verse because it tells me that none of us is here by accident. We all have a powerful purpose, and God knows each of us at a level we can never begin to comprehend. He knows you, He knows your souls.

Much love,
Jill
