Thank you again for lifting us in prayer today. With some minor, yet effective adjustments, Brian's pain level is now at a more manageable level. He has been very sleepy all day, which is likely from the meds and the fact that he is so exhausted from being in so much pain. Now that he is getting some relief, he'll be able to actually rest. I also ran and got a radiant heat pack to try instead of an electric heat pad, and that seems to have brought some relief, as well.
I was able to come home today by around 9:30, and I am glad I have been here. He said he just felt better to have me here, and I think the pain was worse than he was letting on. I've reminded him that the oncologists say not to let him suffer, but it is also hard to always know when it is time to change things.
I am anxious to see how he does in the next 12 hours...the past 6 have been somewhat better, although he has been asleep for most of it. We're all hoping he'll feel up to traveling to Unionville by tomorrow for the benefit.
On another note, I didn't post this morning about the excitement before school. Not much happens around here lately that doesn't involve Brian's illness. In the midst of me trying to figure out what to do today about school or staying home, I was racing around trying to get ready. Rachel was helping with Tye, and the kids and I were just in a rush. All of a sudden I heard a helicopter. It got louder and louder, and I hollered and asked if they could hear it. Brian was resting in bed and he even could hear it. So I told the kids to come check it out, and I opened up the back door out of our bathroom and stepped out. There was a helicopter just out the back, close enough it almost looked like it was going to land in our yard. It was a tandem-rotor copter (the kind with a rotor on each end), and it looked a lot like an Air Natl. Guard copter I have seen land in Maryville before. A few years ago, one came to our school and landed on the field, and the kids thought it was awesome. It was so close, it half scared Tye. I picked him up, and he and the girls were just freaking out. I thought it was cool! It flew over our house and the kids raced to look out the front. It must have descended just enough that Rachel swore it landed on Village O Drive. We could still hear it, and then it flew back toward our house, just over the trees and headed somewhat south toward the college. I am only guessing that it was likely coming into the armory or something. Then all of a sudden it just went down real fast, and Rachel was about to split. The noise was really loud and we could see the trees blowing near 16th street, but we couldn't see it. There were cars stopped on 16th street, and I half wonder if it landed on the street. I think the power lines would have been too close. There is that field north of the armory on the other side of 16th that I bet is where it landed. It was like that for about 2 minutes. The kids came running to the back door again, and about that time, it just lifted off the ground and flew back right over the top of us. It was so close to the ground, and we were all really excited. I have to admit that I was even a little scared that maybe it was going to land on us because it really was so close. Then it flew toward the southwest and out of sight. The kids were wound up! It was nice to have a few fun moments of excitement in my kids' eyes. I didn't expect the copter to fly back over or I would have grabbed the camera. It felt good to know we could enjoy the little things in life still.
Enjoy the moments,
Jenni
