A Few Funnies

Time for an update...

Tye has been super cuddly and clingy. His newest (irritating) phrase is...but, but, but...

...and it finishes with...but I'll miss you...but I want to...but why not?...but, but, but....

...and a pouty lip usually accompanies!

Today he hugged me great big and said, I love you Momma. He tells me probably 20 times a day. I said, I know Tye, I love you too. He said...who else loves you? I said...hmm, let me think (just kind of playing him). He said...I'll give you a hit, he's up in Heaven (and he pointed to the sky). I smiled and felt almost warm inside. Then he said...ok, I'll tell you, it's Daddy! And he loves me too!

Tonight I took the kids out to eat and then bowling. Now mind you, I don't bowl in a league, but it is the first time I've been bowling with someone who was actually sweating because it was such great physical exercise. Or maybe it was his victory dances after each bowl. Either way, the college kids next to us were really getting a kick out of Tye, and they were cheering for him and high-5'in him. He ate it up. Once when he got a strike, he whooped and hollered, slapped hands with the guy next to us, then stood next to the ball rack with his arms folded across his chest. Then he said...my heart's beeping fast. One of the college girls was just reaching for her ball, and she just about split! We had a lot of fun! And to top it off, he bowled a 101 on his last bowl, beating Rachel and Amberlea, and just a few behind me! Rachel was caught off guard how good he was, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't quite get her score up there! We all used the bumpers, so it was even across the board. Tye would run up to the lane and then stop and basically fling it down the lane and get a strike or spare, and Rachel would study and use proper form and everything, and nothing! She was a great sport though, losing to a 4 year-old! At one point, Amberlea razzed her and said, Tye's beating you. And Rachel replied, he's beating you too. And the look on Amberlea's face was priceless!

We talked about how Brian liked to bowl, and that he bowled left-handed, of course. I told the kids that he took a bowling class in college, so anytime we went bowling, he always had tips on how to knock down pins, like when they are split, etc....yet, he never really bowled all that great. He used to joke with me that he tried to major in bowling, but since there was only one class on bowling offered, he decided to major in education!

Last night Tye rented a few movies when Rachel and a friend were renting some. I talked him out of Bambi, figuring he's getting along ok right now and I didn't want him getting sad about Bambi losing his mommy. I have my hands full enough as it is with Amberlea, who is battling some anger. Most of this comes from her close relationship with Brian, and just the fact that she is at a bad age to face a loss like this. She is basically old enough to know what has happened, but too young to be able to rationalize what has happened. It is hard enough for me to absorb it all, so I can understand. She is doing better over the last few days. I expected this because they had warned us at Camp Carousel that some feelings might emerge from being a part of the activities, and I really think that is what it has been.

So Jungle Book was a good choice, although Fox and the Hound caused some tears and made him cry for his cow....I have no idea what the connection there was.

Today on the soccer field, Tye just started yelling...nonstop, while they were playing. I walked toward him and was kind of trying to get him to stop without me making a scene. He kept on. I finally got my hand on him and pulled him closer and said...why are you yelling? He said, because those green guys are chasing me! If you haven't seen a bunch a boys this age play soccer, you are missing out. I finally had to yell at Tye today to stop shoving. The herd of green and black jerseys were running down the field, just kind of randomly bumping into each other. Then I realized if Tye got bumped, he just shoved them back.

We're working on that! And also in trying to keep Amberlea from getting offsides! She had a great game too, but that offsides gets her. I am trying to help her, but I didn't even know that soccer had offsides until a few years ago!

Hope you find a good laugh in your life too.
