Here it is, a conversation that Rachel and a friend had with a girl from Hamburg the other night while they were waiting to swim. It went something like this...
The girl had a sunburn and her face and shoulders were peeling. Mind you, this was a girl in the 11-12 age group.
Rachel's friends says to this girl...hey, did you put on any sunscreen? The girls says...no! Then she says...that can cause skin cancer.
Girl...I don't really care about skin cancer.
Rachel's friend...well, you should. You can die from it.
Girl...I WOULD RATHER DIE THAN PUT ON SUNSCREEN!
Rachel jumps in, of course...well, you should think about that because my stepdad just died from it.
Rachel told me the girl looked shocked and then she said...Mom, I think she was actually thinking about it!
Sigh...
