Brian Halley, M.D.

Brian told the nurse today that he has got a degree in medicine now. We had a chuckle. Today has been his most confused day, lots of odd talk. I'm not sure the medical degree comment was really any crazy talk, just Brian being his whitty self. The man has always made me laugh, and the best way I can describe his conversations are the ornery Brian x 100. Most of the stuff is not completely off the mark, but with a twist. Todd and Shannon came to visit today, and Brian was awake for part of the time. He really had a lot of odd things to say, but was happy to have them here. He was worried about Todd sitting in his chair. I was standing next to the bed checking on him, and he overheard them say something about Iowa (sorry, Iowa folks). He looked shocked and said...are you from Iowa?! I said no. He said...oh, you're from Maryville...then a few minutes later he said...you're from New Mexico. I said...you're right (I was born when my dad was in the Air Force there). I said...which town? He said...Clovis. Bingo...so he knows the info. His expressions and mannerisms are just a hoot, and I try to just enjoy him as I always have. I have to fight back the tears sometimes when he's way off the mark.

The oral meds are going ok, other than the colace, which smells like Robitussin. We're going to have to work on that one! He was able to take some meds with applesauce too. His vitals were good again this morning, after having a restful night. He is not requiring the breakthrough meds like he was, which means the pump is doing its job. He has a lot of anxiety, so those meds are really knocking him out. We'll just take today as a peaceful day and leave it at that.

I might update again tonight, depending on how busy I get.

Hope your day is great.
Jenni

I can only imagine how hard it is to hold back the tears and hold it together at times. You have got to be one strong person, I'm sure things weigh on you heavily. May the Lord bless and watch over all of you. Brian couldn't ask for a better wife, friend or family.
