Quick Update

Surgery was around noon...all went well. Dr. Miller did the surgery, which made us both feel better.

5-6 inch incision, cleaned out and packed all the way up the back of the thigh.

Infection was deep within the muscle.

Drained several 100 cc's of fluid and basically power washed him out...lot of puss and infection.

Did not see any melanoma...always a bright side to everything.

Dr. Anderson feels we should skip this ipilumimab treatment and do the one scheduled in three weeks...good to know we don't just have to stop. Mostly because ipilumimab is an immunotherapy technically, not a chemotherapy.

Able to see Tye just before going into surgery. Grandma brought the kids to Columbia this morning. It was a long wait with the kids through surgery, even though it was short. We're staying in a hotel with a pool and trying to enjoy some time...went to Going Bonkers earlier and just brought Brian some frozen custard.

Brian is running a temp and it has steadily increased since he came out of surgery. He looks great, but the temp is at a concerning level. Not sure what will happen next, but they have drawn blood cultures. Hopefully they didn't stir up something today to cause more trouble.

I'm staying at the hotel, so I won't be posting again tonight. Thank you for your continued prayers. I pray that you each enjoy a nice weekend full of great memories.

Glad to hear that the surgery went well. Hopefully you can get the fever and pain under control. Know that we are praying for all of you. It's great that the kids came down. Enjoy your swimming!
