Halley's Adventures

It was an interesting, yet stressful past 30 hours. Brian was airlifted from St. Francis last night to the University Hospital in Columbia, where his oncology team could better care for his needs. He spiked a fever on Monday, and considering his post-op condition, they decided not to take any chances. It is late in the evening on Tuesday, and he is resting comfortably. He is still battling a fever, and will take i.v. antibiotics for a few more days. Phillip and my dad are exhausted, as they both hit the road running last night after having been up since before 6am already, then stayed up until well past 4am today. I was able to sleep about an hour an a half last night, and catch a 30 min. nap today. My adrenaline is pumping, so even now, in the quiet of the night, I just can't seem to sleep. I'm guessing it will catch up with me by the morning, but for now I'm content to catch a few moments of watching Brian sleep.

So I finally broke down and decided to create a blog. I had mixed emotions, but finally feel it will be a more effective way to share and journal our melanoma battle. I have so much to say about how I feel, and I hope I can express my thoughts here, where you can come for updates at your convenience. We could not do this without the support of our family and friends, and we pray for you all everyday.

Jenni and Brian,

Thanks for putting together the site. Brian, you have been on my Lee's Summit Knights of Columbus Council #6819 prayer list every since the original diagnosis. Keep remaining strong. Our prayers are with you daily.

Love,

Jenni and Brian,
I am praying for both of you and the children too. Cancer - Melanoma - Leukemia - same war, different battle!! I plan to be in Columbia on Thursday (3/15) and will stop by the hospital to check on you. I will share this blog with many to increase the number of prayer warriors. Try to get some rest. You are thought of so often. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Hey there. Once again you both never cease to amaze me with your strength, as well as your effortless e-mails, or now more appropriately, blogs! I know so many people right now who have cancer (or have sadly lost their battle), and it has inspired me to help in whatever way I can. I plan to do relay for life this June. I would challenge everyone else out there reading the Halley family blog to participate if they can. I've heard it's such an awesome event to experience. My prayers continue to be with you and your families. Stay strong.

Prayers and Belief,

Jen
