A Blessing Named Amberlea

Today we celebrated Amberlea's First Holy Communion. It was a very special day for our family, bittersweet without Brian. To Amberlea's surprise, Brian had already written on a card for her in anticipation of this special day. He so hoped he would be here, but wanted her to know how he felt about her, regardless. The weekend has been full of family and great weather and a reminder of how great a blessing Amberlea has been in our lives.

Brian's parents were here also, and it felt great to have them celebrating with us. I feel overwhelmed with how much I miss Brian, and it felt comforting to have them close. We had a BBQ at Dad's (his BBQ is ranking up there with the blue ribbon winners) and everyone came to celebrate. Amberlea also spent last evening and this evening with family on her Dad's side, also helping her enjoy this special milestone.

Today also marked the 2nd anniversary of my Mom's death. It was a painful reminder of how days turn into weeks, and weeks into months into years. I barely recognize the young woman I was then...I feel like I've aged and changed so much in the last 2 years.
Below is a picture of Amberlea, courtesy of Abby. She takes much better pictures than me, and also gets them onto the computer ASAP. Enjoy!
