Melanoma Awareness Car Magnets

Well, the bracelets are such a hit that I started thinking that maybe there might be some of you out there that want a melanoma awareness car magnet. I have one on my van, one on my file cabinet at school, and one on our fridge...so they don't have to be for your car only.

It is difficult to find anything specific for melanoma, as it is not considered one that affects as many people, such as breast, lung, ovarian, colon, so it is not in the top categories for awareness. We're trying to change that, not to stop the awareness needed for those cancers, just to expand the awareness for all the other kinds. Each life lost to cancer, and each person who suffers from cancer, is loved...so we aim to change awareness levels of the other various cancers as well. It is the reason why breast cancer used to practically be considered a death sentence, even just 10 years ago; and why now, while still devastating and sometimes often still life threatening or fatal, the prognosis for a newly diagnosed patient is much better. We need that to be the case for all cancers. So when it comes to melanoma, we need more research, we need more awareness, and we need more people checking their skin and staying out of tanning beds and wearing sunscreen and seeing a dermatologist and not mowing their yards with their shirts off (guys!) and more education...because frankly, Brian's illness is so devastating that I find myself on a mission to save the rest of you from this evil disease.

The magnets are $3 each and only cost enough to cover their purchase and shipping. I only have about 30 left. I bought these from Choose hope, Inc. http://www.choosehope.com/ , which has lots of various items for cancer in general, as well as for many specific types, if you are ever in need a something like clothing, charms, coffee mugs, etc. They also have neat items for caregivers, and poems and other cool things that might make someone's journey easier or more bearable.

Let me know if you are interested in the magnets. halley@embarqmail.com

In it to win it,
Jenni
